Walt Disney World isn’t exactly known for white-knuckle, top-speed thrills.
It’s a resort built on storytelling and immersion, not pure adrenaline. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some fast rides hiding across the four parks… and a few of them might surprise you.
Here’s a look at the fastest rides at Walt Disney World, and what makes each of them worth the wait.
Test Track – 65 mph (EPCOT)

Test Track takes the top spot, reaching a top speed of 65 mph during its outdoor portion (and it’s not even a roller coaster!).
After putting your custom-designed SimCar through a series of tests inside, the vehicle bursts out onto an open track and hits that top speed on a sweeping banked curve. It’s the only moment on the ride where you truly feel the velocity, and it’s a good one.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – 60 mph (EPCOT)

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind hits a top speed of 60 mph, edging out Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, but without any inversions or loops.
What makes it unique isn’t just the speed – it’s the rotating ride vehicles that swivel you to face the action throughout. The coaster launches backwards before sending you hurtling through a completely indoor experience, complete with swivelling cars and a music-driven soundtrack.
TRON Lightcycle / Run – 59 mph (Magic Kingdom)

TRON Lightcycle / Run reaches speeds of 59 mph, making it one of the resort’s fastest thrill rides. The ride launches you out of the gate at pace, and the motorcycle-style seating means you feel every bit of that speed.
The seating is tight, and at just over a minute long, it’s over very quickly. That said, the outdoor section at night, lit up in neon blue, is one of the best-looking moments in any Disney park anywhere.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster – 57 mph (Hollywood Studios)

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster takes off from 0 to 57 mph in just 2.8 seconds, making it the fastest launch in Walt Disney World.
It also holds the distinction of being the only ride at WDW with inversions, loops and corkscrews included. This combo makes it feel faster than it probably is, which is exactly the point.
Note: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster closed on 2nd March 2026 ahead of a retheme, with the ride system staying intact but the Aerosmith theming being replaced by a Muppets-inspired overhaul, due to reopen in summer 2026.
Expedition Everest – 50 mph (Animal Kingdom)

Expedition Everest is a fan favourite for a reason. Combining speed, storytelling, and breathtaking views of Animal Kingdom, guests plunge down an 80-foot drop at a max speed of 50 mph. What the speed stats don’t capture is the backwards section.
After the track is “torn apart” by the Yeti, your train is sent hurtling in reverse through the dark before the forward drop. It’s one of the most well-paced coasters Disney has ever built, and still one of the best rides on property nearly two decades later.
Fastest Rides at Walt Disney World: The Honourable Mentions
Though not quite as speedy as the rides above, a few sit in the 35–40 mph range.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure reaches a max speed of 40 mph on its final descent, while Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land also tops out at 40 mph. Neither will pin you to your seat, but both are pretty fast.
Tower of Terror reaches up to 39 mph, with the ride system pulling the elevator down faster than a normal free-fall, which is why those drops feel so brutal even at that relatively modest speed.
But if raw velocity is what you’re after, Test Track remains the undisputed title holder… for now.
