It’s official – there will be flying dragons in Isle of Berk! Winged creatures will soar over Epic Universe when the park opens on May 22nd, 2025. This confirmation follows months of rumours and, more recently, sneaky sightings of dragon drones above the park.
Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed that flying dragons will be a highlight of How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk land, bringing the beloved DreamWorks franchise to life like never before.
Get Ready for Flying Dragons in Isle of Berk

Set against a backdrop of towering mountains, rocky cliffs, and a Viking village, Isle of Berk promises to be a multi-sensory adventure – and yes, that includes watching dragons take flight above the land. Fans can expect to see familiar species from the films, like the fearsome Monstrous Nightmare and the boulder-bodied Gronckle, gliding through the skies.
The flying creatures will add an immersive, cinematic layer to the land, giving guests the feeling of stepping straight into the world of Hiccup, Toothless, and their dragon-riding crew. According to Universal, the experience will be true-to-scale, making the dragons as awe-inspiring in the air as they are on screen.
How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk
