It’s the news UK thoosies have been waiting for: Universal Great Britain has been given the green light!
The UK will be home to Europe’s first-ever Universal-branded theme park. Following extensive community engagement, Universal has announced plans to develop Universal Great Britain in Bedford, opening in 2031.
Universal projects the resort will generate a staggering £50 billion in economic benefits for the UK while creating thousands of high-quality jobs. Upon opening, the theme park is expected to become one of the region’s largest employers, with approximately 80% of staff drawn from Bedford, Luton, and Milton Keynes.

The above concept art is our first official glance at what could be coming to Universal Great Britain. The proposed entertainment complex will feature a world-class theme park with multiple themed lands showcasing Universal’s signature immersive storytelling, thrilling attractions, and innovative experiences.
Initial plans also include a 500-room hotel and a comprehensive retail, dining, and entertainment district, similar to CityWalk in Orlando and Hollywood.
While Universal is yet to reveal any details on the lands and attractions, the eagle-eyed team at Amused have spotted a Jurassic Park-type show building on the left, while it looks like we’ll be getting a Minions land to the right.
