Disney’s Animal Kingdom will lose another piece of DinoLand U.S.A. when The Boneyard closes permanently on 1st September 2025. The play area will close as part of Disney’s sweeping plan to replace the entire DinoLand section with the new Tropical Americas land.

Construction on the second phase of Tropical Americas kicks off the day after The Boneyard’s closure on 2 September. The new land will completely wipe out what remains of the dinosaur-themed area.

Parents won’t be left hanging though. Disney has confirmed that Tropical Americas will feature a brand new playground designed for younger guests when it eventually opens. Details surrounding what this replacement playground will look like or what features it will include are yet to be revealed.

Disney hasn’t announced closing dates for Restaurantosaurus or the DINOSAUR ride yet. Disney previously stated the ride will operate throughout the entire year before shutting down for its massive retheme.

This marks another major step in Disney’s ambitious plan to completely reimagine one of Animal Kingdom’s original themed lands with an entirely new South American adventure.
