Disney has shared new photos and video from inside the refurbished Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin ahead of its 8th April reopening, and the changes go deeper than the updated blasters and targets announced previously.
What’s New?
The fixed blasters have been replaced with handheld units featuring always-on lasers, haptic feedback, and new sound effects.
The show scenes have had a thorough overhaul too, with a redesigned hyperspace tunnel, new animation in the space battle sequence, and Buzz Lightyear now appearing in the climactic final scene.
New character Buddy, a Star Command robot created by Imagineering and Pixar, greets guests at the start of the ride to run through target practice before the mission begins.
Outside, the attraction is getting a new marquee sign, updated queue handrails, and new lighting. Imagineers have also confirmed that existing Easter eggs have been kept while new ones have been added throughout, with some Toy Story 5 tie-ins hidden across the ride ahead of the film’s June release.
