Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios have announced Minecraft World, a fully immersive Minecraft theme park land opening at Chessington World of Adventures in 2027.
The £50 million project will be the first Minecraft land at a major theme park anywhere in the world.
Chessington is 35 minutes from London Waterloo by direct train, which puts Minecraft World within easy reach of one of the world’s busiest tourist destinations.

Inspired by the game’s biomes, mobs, and items, the land will include a new world-first coaster, interactive attractions, block-built playscapes, and themed dining and retail.
Some early concept art has been released:
Merlin and Mojang have been working together for some time on the project, with a selection of Minecraft creators also involved to keep things authentic to the game. Given Minecraft’s status as the best-selling video game of all time, the pressure to get this right is considerable.
Further details on the attractions are yet to be announced, but with an opening date still two years out, there’s plenty more to come.
