Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will shut down for scheduled maintenance at Disneyland Park from 20th January 2026, with no confirmed reopening date.
The scope of work planned for the closure has not been disclosed by Disney.
Rise of the Resistance: Ongoing Technical Challenges
The high-tech attraction has faced reliability problems throughout its operational life at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. One of the ride’s signature moments, moving laser cannons that track guests’ vehicles during a battle sequence, have proved particularly troublesome.
Both versions of the ride ran without functioning cannons for an extended period after repeated breakdowns caused excessive downtime. Disneyland restored the effect during maintenance work in January 2025. The Hollywood Studios version still operates with the cannons stationary.
